Details
The workshop will explore alliances between art therapy and drama therapy by staging a painting and playing with the dynamics of place, character and props within the scene. The staged drama will initially set up the prescribed scene of the painting, letting the play unfold by bringing the participants imagination to life. Participants will also explore the frame of the picture and how this resonates with ritual theatre approaches to drama therapy and the importance of threshold crossings in rites of passage that can help manage endings and loss. Within the workshop will also experientially consider the role of boundaries to demark dramatic reality of the painting from everyday reality and how this helps with the development and containment of the imagination.
