TARNANTHI FESTIVAL, 20 Oct 2023 – 21 Jan 2024

Tarnanthi Festival at the Art Gallery of South Australia showcases the latest contemporary works by hundreds of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from across the continent. As the central point of the Festival, AGSA presents a nationwide survey that promises ambitious and innovative contemporary art combined with deep reflection on unwavering cultural connections. A major feature is the first survey exhibition of acclaimed portraitist Vincent Namatjira.

OZ ASIA FESTIVAL, 19 Oct - 5 Nov

OzAsia Festival is Australia’s leading contemporary arts festival engaging with Asia. Held at the nearby Adelaide Festival Centre, OzAsia presents a bold and exciting line-up of boundary-pushing contemporary arts each year and is revered by audiences and critics alike.

Held annually over three weeks in spring, OzAsia Festival showcases the best theatre, dance, music, visual arts, literature, food and cultural events from across Asia.

Check out the Lucky Dumpling Market with the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of a bustling Asian openair food market along the banks of Karrawirra Parri/River Torrens! Spend your balmy spring evenings with some of Adelaide’s best food vendors cooking up delicious authentic Asian cuisine from Korea, Vietnam, India, The Philippines, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Taiwan and Turkey.

Join us for Good Music Month at Ancient World, as Three D Radio brings you a handpicked showcase of our visionary local record labels and their artists on Friday 3 November from 7pm.

Experience a sonic array of independent music from South Australia, curated to capture the breadth of incredible talent in our state. Good times. Great local music. Rolling through your Friday evening until late, check out the artists that Three D Radio cannot get enough of, live at Ancient World. All funds raised will go towards supporting your favourite community radio station, our featured local artists and their labels. One of the hottest tables in town, Africola is best enjoyed when shared. Let the spices of Northern Africa unleash your adventurous spirit to try something wonderfully unfamiliar. Opt for the sumptuous four course chef’s selection or fill your table with plates like golden dahl, sprouted lentils, fried cauliflower, sardine with harissa, falafel and marinated eggplant. With chef Duncan Welgemoed’s raving fans and great value, Africola is one of the best restaurants in Adelaide so make sure you book ahead.

FUGAZZI, Adelaide

Step into Adelaide’s house of decadence – Fugazzi. Undoubtedly one of Australia’s best pasta haunts, this New York-Italo inspired bar and dining room embodies the term moreish, from touches of velvet and marble to artistically curated cocktails and hand rolled duck cappelletti. Their menu is broken down into four segments – snacks, pasta, fire and sides - so be prepared to loosen your belt buckle. Try their version of Australiana cuisine with their Roman Vegemite finger, or go all out with a Wagyu Tomohawk.

ART GALLERY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Founded in 1881, the Art Gallery of South Australia is home to one of Australia’s great art collections. The collection comprises of over 45,000 works of art spanning from Australia, Europe, North America and Asia and includes one of the most important collections of Indigenous art as well as the only dedicated Islamic gallery space in Australia. As you wander from one gallery to the next, you’ll find works of art presented in ways that give new insights, culturally and thematically.

ADELAIDE BOTANIC GARDENS

Spend a day exploring South Australia’s inner-city oasis, the Adelaide Botanic Garden. The sprawling Botanic Garden spans 50 hectares, featuring stunning architecture, majestic avenues and, of course, the famous wisteria arbour. Stop for lunch at the multi-award-winning , where you’ll dine on produce sourced from the surrounding gardens, under a heritage rotunda, overlooking ponds and lush greenery. Next door, you’ll find the National Wine Centre of Australia, home to more than 120 wines, and Adelaide Zoo.
